KLab Inc.(TSE Prime Market: 3656)
KLab Inc. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Hidekatsu Morita, hereinafter referred to as "KLab") has recommended that employees stagger hours and work from home as a part of the measures against the new coronavirus (COVID-19) since Monday, February 17, 2020. We would like to also share information on other measures taken since then as well as the current situation.
Effectiveness of Measures and Current Status Report
Starting from Monday, February 17, KLab recommended measures aimed at reducing the risk of infection of employees and related personnel such as staggered commuting hours, working from home, and restricting non-essential business trips and in-person meetings.
Due to the global spread of the new coronavirus and the government's state of emergency announcement, starting from Tuesday, April 7 all employees and affiliate partners in our offices shifted to working from home as a general rule.
As of Wednesday, April 22, we have a telecommuting ratio of 98.7% out of 1,117 company employees, which is being maintained at a consecutive daily level.
A survey was conducted with employees between Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 under the assumption that the implementation of these measures would be prolonged due to the spread of COVID-19.
Survey Response Results
This survey was implemented for the purpose of understanding the actual working conditions of employees and gathering information on how to create a comfortable working environment while working from home.
As a result, when planning a smooth transition to telecommuting, the main issues faced were the necessary improvements needed for the working environment at home and the elimination of communication anxiety.
Creating a Smooth Transition for Telecommuting
93% of employees answered that there were no major operational obstacles regarding the business tools required for remote work when working from home. This is considered to have led to a smooth transition to telecommuting.
Internet Connection Improvements for Telecommuting
Based on the above results, we are providing high-speed Wi-Fi rentals to support those who have slower internet at home when high-speed is required for business.
Creating Smooth Communication
Based on the above results, we have created remote working guidelines to help with collaboration when working from home to eliminate communication anxiety.
Future Support for Long-Term Telecommuting
In addition to the above, taking into account employee feedback and the possibility of the extension of the emergency declaration in the future, a uniform subsidy was provided for the purpose of improving the environment necessary for working from home and supporting communication.
*Except for those who are planning to retire from the company and Spicemarket Co., Ltd. regular employees, contract employees, and part-time employees.
Survey Summary
Date: April 2-3, 2020
Target: KLab Inc. full-time employees, contract employees, part-time jobs, subcontractors, and resident office partners totaling 1,117 people
Format: 10 questions in total, multiple choice and written answers
In addition, all training programs planned for new graduates who joined the company in April 2020 are being implemented online.
